Alok Ranjan Jha CIVIL SERVICES 2001 TOPPER

Childhood:-

Alok ranjan Jha is from Patna,Bihar. He completed his education at St. Michael's High School before attending Hindu College at Delhi University for his graduation and post-graduation (MA). His M. Phil degree was completed at Jawahar Lal Nehru University.Prior to being chosen for the Civil Service Exam, he taught political science at Hindu College as well. Despite failing in his first two attempts, Alok remained calm. Then he gives it another go, working hard and giving it his all. This time, he passes the Civil Service Exam and is appointed to the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Alok Ranjan Jha, the 2001 UPSC Civil Services Exam Topper, chose to pursue an IFS career path.In essence, he was a native of Bihar. He was named Consulate General of Russia in St. Petersburg Before winning the Civil Services Examination, he was a political science teacher at Hindu College.He chose to enlist in the Indian Foreign Service because, as the world changes, so do our international interactions. India's policies are now more pragmatic and driven by self-interest rather than being moralistic and idealistic.

UPSC Topper Alok Ranjan IAS Journey:-

He began preparing in 1997, and in 1998 he made his debut. He did well in the preliminary round but fell short in the main. He gave up writing in 1999 in order to focus on advancing his lecturing career. He wrote once more in 2000. Once more, he passed the preliminary exam but not the main. Since Political Science was a subject I studied for my B.A., M.A., and M.Phil., he chose Sociology and Political Science as his optional paper. Moreover, he spent a few years teaching it. In the third attempt of the Civil Services Exam (2001), he was at the top of the list of successful candidates.

Two things need to be crystal clear. Before they begin, they ought to have a well-defined profession in academia, the media, or another field because, in my opinion, this exam can be unpredictable. Secondly, I want them to feel detached from the test. Don't let it get to you; even if you don't make it through, you shouldn't give up on everything else in life and feel defeated. God forbid!

Born in Bihar, India, on August 10, 1972, Mr. Alok Ranjan Jha enlisted in the Indian Foreign Service in 2002. He has held a number of positions at the New Delhi headquarters and in Indian diplomatic missions overseas. To sum up his career, it is as follows:

2002-04	Training at Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi.
2004-05	Third Secretary, Embassy of India, Paris.
2005-08	Second Secretary, Embassy of India, Dakar, Senegal. Mr. Jha covered political, economic, commercial and cultural issues during his stint in Dakar.
2008-11	Under Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi covering Administration and Human Resource Management.
2011-15	Deputy Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi dealing in India’s relations with countries of East and Southern Africa.
2015-17	Counsellor, Permanent Mission of India, Geneva where Mr. Jha was part of the Indian delegation to the United Nations Human Rights Council from January 2015 to August 2017.
2017-18	Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Kabul, Afghanistan.
2018-19	Director, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi covering India’s relations with countries of Western Europe.
2019-21	Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi heading two Divisions dealing with Establishment matters as well as Global Estate Management.
30-Jul-21	Assumed charge as Ambassador of India to the Republic of Belarus.
