Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep, and Daman and Diu Police Service are collectively referred to as DANIPS. In India, the National Capital Territory of Delhi and the Union territories are governed by a federal civil service.
The Delhi Police, India's largest metropolitan police force, is primarily composed of DANIPS officers. There are 434 authorized members of the cadre.[4] The Indian government's Ministry of Home Affairs is in charge of DANIPS cadre supervision. On the advice of the relevant Governor, Administrator, or Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory, they are governed by the Delhi Government
Roles and Responsibilities:-
Officers from DANIPS are assigned to oversee the Union Territory's Police Administration. It is a transferable Group-B service that is available in every UT.
Additionally, DANIPS serves as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS)/Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre controlling authority for the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre.
