 The two primary goals of this Group "A" Civil Service cadre are accounting and auditing for Central and State governments as well as Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). They have offices in Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The purpose of maintaining a presence abroad is to conduct audits of global multilateral organizations.

Training:-

The National Academy of Audit and Accounts, situated in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, provides one year and six months of training to individuals selected for the Indian Audit & Accounts Service (IA&AS). The recruits receive initial training in the theory and concepts of auditing and accounting in the public and private sectors. The following phase will involve putting what has been learned into practice by visiting prestigious institutions like the London School of Economics (LSE) and IIM-Lucknow, as well as government agencies like the RBI, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, and Bureau of Parliamentary Studies.
