Childhood:-
Bangalore-based data scientist Kanishak Kataria created history by winning the 2018 UPSC Topper award. After graduating from IIT Bombay, he passed the difficult exam on his first try. He had previously worked in the IT sector in Bengaluru and had even secured employment in Korea. Growing up, Kanishak was taught to respect his parents' and uncle's commitment to their jobs as federal workers. Because maths has a large syllabus, he decided to make it an optional subject and spent extra time studying it.
Family Background:-
2018 UPSC topper Jaipur, Rajasthan, is the birthplace of Kanishak Kataria. His family is in the civil service. Both his uncle and father serve in the military. Currently serving as Director of Rajasthan's Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is his father, Sanwar Mal Verma, an IAS officer. In Jaipur, K C Verma, his uncle, works as a Divisional Commissioner.
Education:-
Kanishak Kataria finished his education at St. Paul's Senior Secondary School in Kota. He achieved an incredible 44th position in the IIT JEE in 2010. In order to pursue a BTech in computer science and engineering, he enrolled in IIT Bombay. In 2014, he earned his degree in engineering.
Dedication towards Exam:-
Kataria studied for the mains exam for 13 to 14 hours every day. He completely cut himself off from social media for around two months before to the mains, which is a testament to his dedication and perseverance. He also admits that he only ever focused on the exam and his preparation, never really thinking about the outcome.
Hard work and optimism are his keys to success, as he puts it. Now that he has achieved first rank and realised his aim of becoming an IAS officer, Kanishak Kataria wishes to use his new position to further the interests of the nation.
