Haritha V Kumar, the 2012 UPSC Civil Services Exam top scorer, is the first Keralan woman topper. After 22 years, Kerala, a state renowned for its high literacy rate, celebrated a first-rank victory. 

Biography:-

Haritha hails from Neyyattinkara, a small town located 20 kilometres from Kerala's capital. She is from a Keralan middle-class household that is typical.

The family of Haritha Vijaya Kumar consists of four people, not including her. Vijaya Kumar is her father, and he works as a contractor for the Kerala Water Authority. Her father encouraged her to follow her childhood dream because he was a kind and understanding man.

Chitra, her mother, is a modest housewife. She also has two brothers, Sadrarsh and Satheerth, who are identical.

Her family relocated to Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, so she could help her daughter with her studies. Throughout her trip, she had support from her mother and father.

Her father, like many other parents, wished for his daughter to enter the civil service, and he instilled this desire in her from a young age. Her mother encouraged her daughter to pursue her dreams as well.
Haritha V. Kumar, IAS: Overview Haritha is one of Vijayakumar and Chithra's three children. Kerala is her native state. She finished her education at Neyyattinkara's Government Girls Higher Secondary School and St. Theresa's Convent School. Following that, Haritha completed her engineering degree in electronics and communication at the Government Engineering College in Thiruvananthapuram. Since she was a young child, Haritha has been inspired by her father, who frequently told her that she could become a collector. Haritha is a passionate fan of Malayalam films and has studied Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, and Mohiniyattam. She enjoys reading poetry and novels written in Malayalam. 


IAS Preparation:-

Previous Attempts of Haritha V. Kumar In 2009, Haritha made her first attempt at the UPSC. She passed the preliminary IAS exam but not the main exam. Haritha tried again and got a rank of 179, which qualified her for the IPS, but she chose to work for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). After three tries, she achieved a rank of 294. Haritha took a year off from her Indian Revenue Service (IRS) training prior to her fourth attempt in 2012. This was profitable because she achieved the highest rank, getting into her ideal service, the IAS, and becoming a fantastic UPSC success story. 

On her second try, she came in at rank 179. She qualified for both IRS and IPS. And she chose the Indian Revenue Service, or IRS.
After that, she made a third try and received a 294 All-India Rank.

She finally took a year off from the IRS training programme at the National Academy for Customs, Excise, and Narcotics in Faridabad in 2012, and it was well worth the effort and disappointment because she passed on her fourth and final try.
