IAS officer Gaurav Agarwal, class of 2013, is presently stationed in Rajasthan. In 2012, he scored an impressive AIR 244 on the UPSC exam, which led to his selection as an IPS officer. But in 2013, the next year, he took the test once more and passed with a perfect score of AIR 1. He was the first in his state to receive an AIR 1 in the UPSC exam.
The man from India's Pink City, Gaurav Agarwal, is well renowned for being the top scorer in the most coveted examinations in the country, the IAS. Gaurav Agarwal has had several highs and lows throughout his life. He struggled mightily to graduate from IIT Kanpur, having failed numerous classes. His degree was postponed by a semester since he failed a different subject in the last semester. He used to often visit the professor's rooms in order to request leniency and remain back during holidays in order to clear the backlog. But despite failing his graduation test, this helped him become resilient and an IAS topper.
Gaurav graduated with a degree in computer science from the esteemed IIT Kanpur between 2001 and 2005. But in the last semester, he dropped out of one of the disciplines, which had him repeat the year. His degree was advanced by one semester. He then completed his post-graduation studies in finance at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow after succeeding on the CAT in 2005.
Education:-
At the age of 16, IAS Gaurav Agarwal passed the most difficult engineering exam and received an AIR 45 ranking in IIT JEE-2001. In 2005, he received his degree in computer science engineering from IIT Kanpur. But Gaurav Agarwal did not pass at IIT Kanpur, and his degree was postponed for an additional semester.
But the setback didn't stop him from scaling the mountains. Following this initial setback, he recovered to pass the most difficult MBA exam in India at the age of 21, scoring 99.94 on the CAT 2005. He then enrolled in the most demanding MBA programme, graduated with honours in 2008, and pleaded for a gold medal for academic brilliance.
Achievements:-
In order to serve the people of India, Gaurav Agarwal abandoned his well-paying career and took one of the hardest examinations in the world, with a success rate of less than 0.4%. Just four days before his wedding, Gaurav Agarwal showed up for his personal interview when his family was busy getting ready for the wedding and he was busy studying and reading books.
Gaurav Agarwal emerged victorious from the UPSC 2013 and became the first individual from the Royal State to secure the top spot in the Civil Services Examination after the UPSC later released the results. Gaurav Agarwal’s UPSC Rank was AIR 1 in 2013
Gaurav Thoughts for success:-
Gaurav employs and promotes a couple of success mantras. Both success and failure, he claimed, are inevitable in life. You shouldn't allow failure demoralise you. Failures are teaching opportunities that one should seize to better oneself. We should also have the guts to acknowledge our flaws and own up to our blunders. Have confidence in your skills. Have optimism; it's the only thing that will motivate you to work towards systemic change.
"Instead of competing with other people, compete with yourself. Always aim to strengthen your areas of weakness in order to better yourself. Avoid pursuing the objective. Let go of the goals and focus on the journey. For aspiring people, he is a real role model."
