Because of Sibal's efforts, the Supreme Court became aware of the situation and ordered a CBI investigation. 55 people were found guilty as a result of the probe, including Om Prakash Chautala, the former chief minister, and his son Ajay. IAS officer Sanjiv Kumar, who was also charged and found guilty in the case, succeeded Sibal as the Director of Primary Education at the time.
