official coaching.
In the early days of his blindness, he used magnifying glasses to study as
eyeglasses were useless to him, but with time, he grew tired of using them.
"My life was becoming quite dark, and I was on the verge of giving up on
trying to go on. However, in no time at all, four angelic friends—Pushpendra
Kumar Sengar, Vikas Kumar Gupta, Amul Kumar, and Ram Prakash Sahu—whom I had became
acquainted with in Delhi, the epicentre of civil services exam preparation,
came to my aid and gave me newfound hope. In addition to wanting to work in the
public service, they did everything in their power to support me and my
purpose, which I was confident would be accomplished.
The officer remembers that Pushpendra in particular would record his voice
on my audio cassette recorder, which I would play back repeatedly to help me
memorise the material. Meanwhile, Prakash's electrocution death at his hometown
came as a huge shock to me. I will always remember him because he was also
financially supportive. All of them deserve credit for what I am now, along
with my family, of course.
